Elephants in battle

A war elephant was a military elephant that had been trained and guided by humans. The main purpose of the war elephant was to assault the enemy, break their ranks, and terrorise and terrify them. Elephantry refers to military formations that use elephants to transport troops. [1] In antiquity, war elephants played a crucial role in a number of significant wars, particularly in Ancient India. New Year's Eve

The evening of the last day of the year, New Year's Eve (also known as Old Year's Day or Saint Sylvester's Day in various countries), falls on December 31 in the Gregorian calendar. Although "New Year's Eve" is widely used to refer to the last day of the year, the term "eve" is short for "evening," and only the evening of this day is appropriately referred to as "New Year's Eve." New Year's Eve is celebrated in many countries with nighttime celebrations where people dance, eat, drink, and watch or light fireworks. The festivities usually last until after midnight on January 1st, New Year's Day.

At UTC+14:00, the Line Islands (part of Kiribati) are the first to greet the New Year, followed by Baker Island and Howland Island (part of the United States Minor Outlying Islands). [1]

Nigerians frequently attend church on New Year's Eve, while others attend nightclubs and parties hosted by individuals, groups, and other organisations.

In 2012, Lagos Countdown (later renamed One Lagos Fiesta)[2] was staged for the first time as part of an endeavour to bring tourism-oriented New Year's celebrations in line with those of other major metropolitan areas.

Rwanda

Rwandans celebrate New Year's Eve by attending church services, social events, and planning family activities. The Roman Catholic church's services begin at 6 p.m., while Protestant services begin at 10 p.m. The president gives an end-of-year address at 00:00, which is carried live on numerous radio and television stations across the country. [5] In recent years, fireworks have been introduced, with the most notable displays taking place at the Kigali Convention Centre and Rebero Hill on Mount Kigali.

South Africa is a country in Africa.

Before the end of the year, South Africans vote on a top ten music countdown. When the countdown reaches number one, the song with the highest votes is broadcast on all radio stations throughout the country. South Africa is ablaze with fireworks. South Africans enjoy the occasional glass of wine and a braai.

South Sudan is a country in South Sudan.

South Sudanese people attend church services in Juba's various churches. At 9 p.m., the service will begin. The renowned carol "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is sung at the stroke of midnight to bless the end and beginning of the year. The event will conclude at 12:30 a.m.

Argentina

Argentines go to the streets just before midnight to see fireworks and light firecrackers. Any terrace will be able to see the fireworks. At midnight, the first day of the New Year is commemorated with cider or champagne. Argentines exchange New Year's greetings and even share a toast with their neighbours. Parties are frequently held till the early hours of the morning. Citizens of La Plata have a lengthy practise of building gigantic dolls, usually out of paper and wood with some fireworks on them, and then burning them down after midnight. [7]

Because the celebration takes place in the summer, like it does in many other South American nations, many families can be seen at tourist centres along the Argentine Atlantic coast on New Year's Day (Mar del Plata, Necochea, Villa Gesell, Miramar, etc.).

In the city of La Plata, burning dolls is a traditional custom.

In Argentina, typical celebrations include a family feast with traditional delicacies such as vitel tonnĂ©, asado, miga sandwiches, and piononos. TurrĂ³n, mantecol, and pan dulce are examples of desserts.

Brazil

On New Year's Eve, Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro holds one of the world's greatest fireworks displays, drawing millions of onlookers.

In Brazil, New Year's Eve (Portuguese: Ano Novo) is usually celebrated at enormous parties held by restaurants and clubs, with local traditions determining who opens a bottle of Champagne at midnight. On New Year's Eve, people frequently wear colours with religious connotations, such as white for good luck, yellow for good energies, happiness, and money, and crimson for love. This mixture is also responsible for rituals such as the ingestion of grapes, lychees, and lentils.
