They have yet to talk with a man who is still being treated in a Dublin hospital.

The 23-year-old primary school teacher's funeral will be held at Mountbolus tomorrow morning.

Teacher unions have requested that at 11 a.m. tomorrow, all schools around the country hold a minute of silence in her honour.

Gardai are still waiting to question a man who is suspected of being involved in the murder.

The individual has lived in the midlands for a number of years, but he has also lived abroad, and gardai are working with law enforcement authorities in other countries to learn as much as they can about him.

They haven't discovered any criminal records or a history of mental illness thus far.

They are still looking for a motive for Ms Murphy's death, which they have described as random and carried out by a lone male.

Gardai are also looking for information on the movements of a Falcon Storm mountain bike before to the murder, to determine whether they are linked to an incident two hours earlier along the canal, where a woman reported being followed by a man on a bike.

The portion of the Grand Canal at Cappincur where the murder occurred is still closed for the sixth day while a forensic investigation of the crime scene and the water continues.
