SIT claims the killings in Lakhimpur Kheri were part of a "planned conspiracy."

Applies to the court in order to include Acts with a common purpose are covered in this section.

The UP Police's Special Inquiry Team (SIT) has reported to a court that the death of four farmers and a journalist in Lakhimpur Kheri, in which Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra and 12 others are implicated, was a "planned conspiracy" after two months of investigation.

The SIT denied that the incident occurred as a result of negligence or callousness in its appeal to a local court on Monday, claiming that the act was deliberate and with the purpose to murder. It also sought to bring charges against the accused, who are now being held at the Lakhimpur Kheri jail, including attempted murder and other offences.

In addition to the allegations listed in the FIR, S P Yadav, Senior Public Prosecutor, Lakhimpur Kheri, said the SIT sought the court to invoke IPC Sections 307, 326, 34, as well as Sections 3, 25, and 30 of the Arms Act against all 13. (of murder and criminal conspiracy, among others). The SIT's application has yet to be decided by the court.

While Section 307 of the IPC deals with attempted murder, Section 326 deals with voluntarily causing grievous bodily harm with dangerous weapons or means, as well as 34 crimes committed by a group of people with a common goal.

According to Yadav, the defence attorney has protested to the use of Section 34.

The SIT also asked the court to dismiss three IPC Sections against the accused: 279 (for rash driving), 338 (causing serious harm by acts endangering the life or personal safety of others), and 304 A (for causing grievous harm by acts endangering the life or personal safety of others) (death by negligence).

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress General Secretary, reacted to the news by urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fire MoS Mishra and launch an investigation into his role in the violence.

A convoy of three SUVs, one of which belonged to Ajay Mishra, ran over a group of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, killing four of them. A journalist's family said he was also killed in the incident. During the ensuing violence, two BJP leaders and the driver of Mishra's SUV were lynched by the mob.
