'Remove Hindutvawadis
from power; India requires Hindu government,' says Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi told a crowd in Jaipur during a statewide march
against inflation and price hikes, "Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu, and
Nathuram Godse was a Hindutvawadi."
On Sunday, December 12, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
declared that India is a "nation of Hindus, not Hindutvawadis," and
that Hindutvawadis must be removed from office. He accused 'Hindutvawadi' Prime
Minister Narendra Modi of backstabbing farmers and favouring a handful of
industrialists at a rally in Jaipur, which was also addressed by party
president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
"This is a Hindu country, not a Hindutvawadi
country," he stated at the meeting in Jaipur, which came just months
before assembly elections in important states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
"Hindutvadis must be deposed once more, and Hindu
authority restored in the country," he told a raucous stadium. "I am
a Hindu, not a Hindutvadi," he said, weeks after a similar attempt by him
sparked uproar.
Hindus, Gandhi asserted, could not be suppressed. "It
hasn't happened in over 3,000 years, and it isn't going to happen now." He
stated, "We are not afraid of dying."
"Whatever happens, Hindus seek and spend their entire
lives in search of truth, whereas Hindutva seeks power and empowerment."For
the sake of power, he will kill anyone. "The Hindu way is 'Satyagraha,'
while the Hindutva path is 'Sattagraha," Rahul explained.
Gandhi distinguished between the labels 'Hindu' and
'Hindutva,' claiming that Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu and his assassin Nathuram
Godse was a Hindutvadi. "The Mahatma devoted his entire life seeking the
truth," he remarked. But in the end, a Hindutvadi shot him in the chest
with three shots."
He claimed that no religion, including the Gita and the
Ramayana, states that the impoverished must be slaughtered and the oppressed
crushed. "Lord Krishna did not instruct Arjuna to murder his brothers in
order to gain supremacy. "It is written in the Gita to fight for the truth
even if it means death," he explained.
Priyanka Gandhi had also criticised the Modi-led Union
government, claiming it sought to sell whatever the Congress had built in 70
years to its industrialist allies. She inquired as to what the Modi government
has accomplished for the people during its seven years in power.
Rahul Gandhi, criticising the Modi government, said the
country has been left in the hands of a few industrialists and is being controlled
by "Hum Do, Hamare Do."
Rahul Gandhi went on to state that the country's government
claims that no farmers have perished as a result of the unrest. "I handed
them a list of 500 persons from Punjab and Haryana and told them that the
Punjab government had provided compensation, and that they should do the same.
They didn't, however."
On Rahul Gandhi's
remark, Owaisi says, "India belongs to all Bharatiyas, not just
Hindus."
Rahul Gandhi had declared Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu and his
assassin Nathuram Godse was a Hindutvadi, distinguishing between the terms
"Hindu" and "Hindutva."
Rahul Gandhi's remark that India is a land of Hindus, as
well as his definition distinguishing between Hindu and Hindutva, has sparked a
big debate. Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM chairman and Hyderabad MP, turned to
Twitter to express his displeasure, saying, "Rahul and INC sowed the seeds
of Hindu nationalism. They're now attempting to reap the benefits of
majoritarianism. In 2021, bringing 'Hindus to Power' is a'secular' agenda. Wah!
All Bharatiyas have a claim to India. Not only Hindus. India is home to people
of different faiths, as well as those who are agnostic (sic)."
"Two words cannot represent the same thing," Rahul
Gandhi stated during a Jaipur rally on Sunday, December 12, when explaining the
distinction between Hindu and Hindutvawadi. Each word has a unique meaning.
Hindu and Hindutva have the same meaning in today's politics in our country.
These are not the same terms; they are two distinct words with quite different
meanings. Although I am Hindu, I am not a Hindutvawadi. "Both Mahatma
Gandhi and Nathuram Godse were Hindutvawadis," he continued.
"Whatever happens, Hindus seek and spend their entire
lives in pursuit of truth, whereas Hindutva spends their entire lives in search
of power and empowerment. For the sake of power, he will kill anyone. "The
Hindu way is 'Satyagraha,' whereas the Hindutva path is 'Sattagraha,"
Rahul Gandhi stated.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot clarified Rahul's
remarks, saying, "A person who believes in
"In a genuine sense," Gehlot added, "Hindus
believe in truth, nonviolence, and peace.". In any faith, bigotry and
fanaticism are unacceptable. In the interests of the country, Rahul Gandhi
believes that the BJP-policies RSS's of hatred and violence, which are destroying
the essential nature of Hindu religion in the name of Hindutva, should be put
to an end."
After Rahul Gandhi's address, the BJP also criticised the
Congress, claiming that his understanding of Hinduism and Hindutva is
incomprehensible. "Rahul Gandhi provided a bizarre meaning of Hindu and
Hindutva," claimed BJP leader Satish Poonia. Everyone knows that Hindu
ideology is a way of life, and being Hindu and Hindutvawadi is a source of
pride for any Indian."
"Rahul Gandhi's bizarre vision of Hinduism and Hindutva
is beyond comprehension." We're all pleased to call ourselves Hindus and
Hindutvawadis. The manner in which Rahul attempted to make a
