New Delhi, India: As Congress leader Harish Rawat expressed
his dissatisfaction with the party leadership in a series of tweets today, his
former colleague Amarinder Singh responded with a scathing retort.
"What you seed is what you will reap! Best wishes for
your future endeavours (if you have any), "Amarinder Singh wrote for
Harish Rawat, the Congress's Punjab in-charge, who had a rocky tenure.
Harish Rawat expressed his dissatisfaction with his
leadership in a series of tweets earlier today, even wishing for
"margdarshan (direction) from Lord Kedarnath" in the New Year. The
tweets were interpreted by many as a strong indication that the former
Uttarakhand Chief Minister is considering stepping down as the state prepares
for elections.
State elections will be held in Punjab and Uttarkhand early
next year.
"Isn't it perplexing? We must navigate this election
waters, but instead of helping me, the organisation has either turned its back
on me or is actively working against me "Harish Rawat sent out a tweet.
"The powers that be have released a swarm of crocodiles
(predators) into the sea we must navigate. My hands and feet have been shackled
by those who I am meant to follow. Harish Rawat, it's gone too far, you've done
enough, it's time to rest, I've been thinking. Then there's a voice in my
thoughts that whispers quietly, "I'm not weak, and I'm not afraid of
obstacles." I'm in a state of flux. I'm hoping that the New Year will show
me the path. I am convinced that Lord Kedarnath (Shiva) would lead me in the
right direction "According to the Congressman,
Mr Rawat, who is a member of the Congress Working Committee,
will be the party's face in the Uttarakhand elections in 2022.
He was also the party's chief troubleshooter in Punjab until
recently, attempting to mediate a long-running rivalry between Amarinder Singh
and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Mr Rawat was perceived to play a big role in Amarinder
Singh's replacement as Chief Minister of Punjab in September, when the party
backed Mr Sidhu. Amarinder Singh, who had been "humiliated," left the
party and formed his own.
