Elephants in battle

A war elephant was a military elephant that had been trained and guided by humans. The main purpose of the war elephant was to assault the enemy, break their ranks, and terrorise and terrify them. Elephantry refers to military formations that use elephants to transport troops. [1] In antiquity, war elephants played a crucial role in a number of significant wars, particularly in Ancient India. While they were only used on a limited and irregular basis in ancient China, they were a permanent staple in the armies of historical Southeast Asian kingdoms. They were also used in ancient Persia and the Mediterranean globe by Macedonian troops, Hellenistic Greek nations, the Roman Republic and later Empire, and Carthage in North Africa during classical antiquity. Throughout the Middle Ages, they had a strong presence on the battlefield in several areas. However, when rifles and other gunpowder weapons became more common in early modern combat, their use declined. Following this, war elephants...

Harish Rawat's 'Magarmach' Jibe Ahead of U'khand Polls, Drops Twitter Bomb Saying 'Party Not Supporting' Harish Rawat's 'Magarmach' Jibe Ahead of U'khand Polls, Drops Twitter Bomb Saying 'Party Not Supporting' Harish Rawat's

Harish Rawat, a veteran Congress leader, trained weapons on his own party, laying a political bomb on a group of party leaders ahead of the Uttarakhand assembly poll early next year. Rawat, who is also the leader of the state's Congress campaign committee, surprised the party when he accused it of failing to support and cooperate with him throughout the election campaign.

"It is plainly clear that we have to swim political waters," Rawat wrote on Twitter, "and oddly, in spite of cooperating, the organisation in majority of areas is either not backing (me) or is playing a negative role."

When asked to remark on his Twitter thread, Rawat, on the other hand, chose a mysterious response. "When the time comes, I'll let you know," he added."

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE HULLABALOO?

Uttarakhand will hold elections in the first half of next year. The Congress reorganised a few months ago, naming Rawat as the head of the election campaign committee and his right-hand man Ganesh Godiyal as the chief of the Uttarakhand Congress in this vital election. Pritam Singh, Rawat's once-trusted deputy and now bĂȘte noire, was replaced as leader of the opposition in the state assembly by Godiyal. In an attempt to pacify lobbies, the party also appointed four working presidents, but this did not assist in the "clash of the titans." "..

In reality, the chasm widened even further. Rawat has griped about the state of affairs in the state Congress unit before, but his language was moderate in comparison to his most recent tweets. In the state Congress, Rawat leads one faction, while Pritam Singh and Devendra Yadav, secretary in-charge of party affairs, lead the other.

Surendra Kumar, a close colleague of Rawat's and the party's vice-president, claimed that Yadav was causing the party harm. He claims he stayed mute when the Rawat posters were taken down ahead of the recent Rahul Gandhi rally. "Such actions only benefit the BJP," says the author "he claimed

According to sources, Rawat was attempting to exert pressure on the party's high command to replace Yadav with a seasoned figure in charge of the party's affairs.

Pritam Singh's meeting with Yadav in New Delhi on Wednesday coincided with Rawat's abrupt outburst. "Harish Rawat is a commanding figure. I'm not sure why he said such things or what the context was. Only he (Rawat) has the ability to shed light on this "Singh said.

'ANOTHER AMARINDER SINGH, RAWAT'

While party officials are optimistic about the next elections, the rupture in the party's fabric says otherwise.

"Harish Rawat appeared depressed at the prospect of his political career coming to an end. For the Congress, he will be the next Amarinder Singh," claimed BJP spokesman Suresh Joshi.

"Harish Rawat is in serious trouble," state cabinet minister Harak Singh remarked. His own men are in opposition to him. Why? He should inquire of himself." In 2016, Harak revolted against the Harish Rawat-led administration.

According to sources, Rawat was attempting to exert pressure on the party's high command to replace Yadav with a seasoned leader in charge of the party's affairs.
