Elephants in battle

A war elephant was a military elephant that had been trained and guided by humans. The main purpose of the war elephant was to assault the enemy, break their ranks, and terrorise and terrify them. Elephantry refers to military formations that use elephants to transport troops. [1] In antiquity, war elephants played a crucial role in a number of significant wars, particularly in Ancient India. While they were only used on a limited and irregular basis in ancient China, they were a permanent staple in the armies of historical Southeast Asian kingdoms. They were also used in ancient Persia and the Mediterranean globe by Macedonian troops, Hellenistic Greek nations, the Roman Republic and later Empire, and Carthage in North Africa during classical antiquity. Arvind Kejriwal: More Curbs in Delhi, "Yellow Alert," Detailed Order Coming Soon

Covid in Delhi: In the wake of an increase in Covid cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the city will impose more restrictions and "shall share specific order."

New Delhi, India: Due to an increase in Covid instances, new limitations would take effect in Delhi with a "yellow alert," Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced Thursday, adding that a "detailed order" will be released soon.

The limitations come after Delhi's largest single-day surge in infections in six months, with 331 new cases reported yesterday. The positivity rate, or the percentage of samples that return positive, was above 0.5 percent for two days, triggering a yellow alert, according to GRAP.

"For more than two days, we have maintained a positive rate above 0.5 percent. The Graded Response Action Plan's Level-I (Yellow Alert) is in effect. Soon, a full order outlining the limits to be applied would be made public "Following a discussion with top officials, the Chief Minister stated.

"We are ten times more prepared than we were before to cope with the surge in Covid cases in Delhi," he assured, adding that the instances were light and that despite the increase in numbers, there was no increase in oxygen use or the use of ventilators.

Mr Kejriwal, on the other hand, advised prudence in light of recent photographs showing large crowds at markets in the city and people without masks.

"Such photographs of crowds and people without wearing masks should not be released," he said, "otherwise we will have to close markets, which would cause a lot of problems."

When the positive rate exceeds 0.5 percent for two days in a row, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Level 1 or Yellow alert is activated.
